Along the Wine Road on Pisa’s hills, amidst olive trees, vineyards, lines of cypresses and little woods, you will find A Casa di Lizzy, where the peace and quiet of Tuscan countryside is matched by the warmness of Tuscan hospitality. Brick tiles, wooden beams and cross vaults will cradle you at night and the smell of home-made cookies will wake you up in the morning. During the day the countryside, the Romanesque little churches, the small quaint villages waiting to be discovered, the well-known cities of art and the seaside will disclose their treasures to your eyes, while in the evening the local feasts will offer you several occasions to relish the dishes of typical Tuscan cuisine. The B&B is in a typical Tuscan farmhouse built at the beginning of the 19th century and restored preserving the original structure. It is surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. The ground floor, with wide terracotta cross vaults, was once a stable, while now it houses a living room, a kitchen, a little cellar and a study. The first floor with beautiful wooden beams used to house the farmer’s apartment, while now it houses the bedrooms, the bathrooms and our little private area. You can enter it through the inside staircase, made with wood and iron, or the outside one, from which our guests may come in and go out whenerver they like since the entrance to the bedrooms is indipendent. There is a fridge at our guests' disposal in the hall. Our two bedrooms – the green one and the blue one – each one with private bathroom, are furnished simply, but comfortably: they have old hand-decorated wardrobes, a kettle and mugs, a fan for the hottest summer nights and overlook our garden and the surrounding hills. They can be single, double or triple with king-size beds that can be converted into twins if required. It is possible to add another bed or a cradle for babies.

Our breakfast

Lizzy's cakes
Breakfast served in the dining room
Our produce: jams, olive oil, wine
Breakfast served in the garden
Local products freshly made every morning
Breakfast has always been the most important meal of the day for us. That is why it is a part of our strength: it consists of fruit juices, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, home-made croissants and cakes, different kinds of bread, jams made with our organic fruit, Tuscan salame and local cheese, tea, coffee or milk. If you follow a particular diet or have an allergy, please tell us when you book and we will try our best to satisfy you. We usually serve it on a large table in the dining room or in the garden, when it is possible. It is the best moment of the day to give you information or advice and exchange opinions about the best places to visit, the best restaurants, festivals and Tuscan traditions.

You will be hosted by Annalisa

My husband Lorenzo and I, Annalisa - Lizzy for family and close friends -, were born and grew up near Milan, but we moved to this wonderful spot of Tuscany in 2002. Lorenzo, who loves nature and studied botany, wanted to have a piece of land. I studied foreign languages (English and French) at university and worked in tourism, so I wanted to run a traditional B&B. I like having people around me, chatting with them and making cakes. So we have joined our skills and achieved our goal. Both of us have been taking care of our guests in different ways since 2004: Lorenzo looking after our garden, vines, olive trees and fruit trees and I giving information about how to make the most out of your holiday or short break. Come and stay with us: we love having guests !

Area hills

The farmhouse is in the heart of Tuscany, between Fabbrica and Montelopio in the municipality of Peccioli and within short driving distance from San Gimignano and Volterra, centrally located at the point where the provinces of Pisa, Siena and Florence meet, in a piece of Tuscany that is not well-known: the Valdera, that provides the stunning panorama of a most typical Tuscan landscape. It is not on a well trodden tourist route and this may be the reason why it still remains authentic and genuine and keeps producing the best harvests: excellent wines and rich, perfumed extra-virgin olive oil used in making the very special and unique dishes in the Italian cuisine. The unique charm of the Valdera will always be the warm and welcoming Tuscan people, who will share the beauty and richness of a miraculously preserved countryside with anyone who chooses to join them. Main places of interest: Lajatico, Andrea Bocelli’s birthplace, Teatro del Silenzio and Peccioli (10 minutes by car); Volterra, San Gimignano, San Miniato, Casciana Terme (30 min. by car); Pisa, Lucca, Livorno, Monteriggioni, Certaldo and the beaches (45 min. by car); Florence, Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi (1 hour by car) Siena (1 hour and a half by car). The best way to make the most out of your stay is by having a car or a motorbike.
